I've been a busy girl.
I bought a package of disposable diapers, that's how busy I was. Yep, I sacrificed the landfills for my own sanity.
Sunday we had an amazing worship service. I wish I had time to get into everything, but I don't. I will say that the sermon was awesome and I think Steve's vision was really brought home and hope in spite of sadness will prevail. We'll see, as some are having problems with faith right now which I'm sure the enemy is loving. I hope people realize that if Steve does pass, that he would be very very VERY upset if people turned away from God out of anger. He's fighting this fight, and if anyone should be questioning, you'd think it would be him...but he's not, he's a rock.
Sunday night we headed to Bloomington Indiana and visited some friends. Stayed up until 3am even though we knew we had to be up and getting ready to head to Indianapolis by 8am. Yeesh, I'm way too old to be staying up that late! Had a great time with said friends, and headed out of town.
Arrived at Riley Children's Hospital before our 11am appointment, and didn't get out of that place until 5pm! TheBeast had a hearing evaluation, a speech evaluation, and then finally she was seen by the cleft palate surgeon. The surgeon said that her case really isn't cut and dry. Right now, although she does have a cleft in her soft palate, the risks of surgery would outweigh the benefits. There are about 4 surgeries that they could do for someone with her problem, but externally that can't see where the problem really lies. They want her to get bigger so they can stick a scope up her nose and really see what's going on, so they said to wait a year. I told them that she's only gained 5 pounds since she was 9 months old (she's currently 29 months old), how much bigger do they think she's going to get in a year? Which lead us to seeing the developmental doctor. They now want me to have all the tests that were run on her in Chicago to be faxed over before they will also conclude that she's just going to be a small person. Currently she weighs 22.8 pounds and Popeye weighs 20.8 pounds, just to give you a visual...she's 2 pounds heavier than her 8 month old brother. So for now we're getting her back into speech therapy, and will be going back to Riley in 6 months.
From Indianapolis we drove to Illinois where I had the pleasure of being on a panel of 9 other Mommy bloggers for Mommy Monologues (held in Chicago). What an awesome experience! People are realizing that there's a huge market in Mommy bloggers, and they're starting to take full vantage of it. We're moms and we have a lot to say, you know? If I buy a new product it's usually because I heard about it from one of my friends or I read about it on a blog. We're powerful, and throwing us the latest products helps get word out. We answered questions like "why do you blog?" and "how much time do you spend blogging?" I guess there's been some amount of grief in the god ol blogosphere...some people absolutely do not want to be approached by companies, and some people love being approached. We were there to help bridge the two, and give the PR peeps some learnin' on how to go about it. We also informed them of the importance of twitter:) Other awesome bloggers that were there are: Ashlee from Mama Speaks and Mama's Nest, Arianne from To Think is To Create, Steph from Adventures in Babywearing, Amy from The Ladybug and her Blogging Mama & Mums the Wurd, Kim from Traveling Mom, Emily from The Motherhood, Jory from Blogher and Pause and Julie (and little Oliver!) from Parents Blogger Network and Mothergoosemouse. I'd like to thank Maria for putting the whole thing together and Natalie for inviting me:)
Now I'm off to find my sanity, I think it's around here somewhere...

That's pretty neat that people are realizing the growing market of Mommy Bloggers. I've read several article on that. I hope all of this gets straightened out with TheBeast!

I got involved in and co-founded a multi-author site called NWI Connect that seeks to connect bloggers in Northwest Indiana.
I got you listed in the NWI Blogosphere Update so that should send some traffic your way. You may want to add it to your blogroll or get involved, you are on the blogroll there. ;) Either way, linking gives us all better Page Rank and thus more traffic. :)
It was great to meet you. Thanks again to your mother for holding Oliver for a few - much appreciated!
Whooo... you ARE busy!!
Crossing my fingers for no pain for Steve...
Hoping they figure out how to handle the Beast's issues, soon!
And it's so exciting to be chosen for panels like that! Congrats!
wow, you were busy! I live right by riley and have many friends who work there.....awesome place! I'll be praying for the beast!
That is a ton to take in! WOW!
Hugs and prayer for the Beast - that sweet little thing. (Susan's daughter Julia is TINY too. She is three years old and only 25 pounds. She still fits in a 24 month onesie! My son is a GIANT. He is six and 4'4" and 72 pounds!)
